Don't think so!Can Someone prove to me the H-M Govt` and DVL(ooney tunes)A, are Actually "fit for purpose"??

Since the onus is on the authorities to prove their case, I guess that would include proving that your unladen weight is over 3050kg. I'm not sure how easy that would be.

It's unladen weight as has already been said and as unladen weight isn't recorded anywhere for motorhomes (it isn't the same thing as MIRO) it's an unenforceable law.

I just made it............emptied out my salt cellar to get my weight down to under 3.5 tons...........
Or is it still the original?

Nope, the difference between MAM and the payload is the MIRO (Mass in Running Order) which is the unladen weight plus allowances for driver, fuel, water & gas amounts which can vary between manufacturers.Just idly thinking about this the other day (whilst cruising in traffic actually) I recalled that the published PAYLOAD for our van was 465kg. With a MAUW of 3500kg, that puts the unladen weight at 3035kg i.e. under 3050kg so no probs.
.
It goes back to imperial measurements 3 TON unladen A lot of 3500kg vans ARE under this weight when empty not MIRO but empty. It's 3.05 tonnes maximum unladen weight

Yes providing the gross weight is 3500kg or less.so if you pas driving test after 1997 can you drive a van or m/h over 3.05
Yes, my lads can't drive our MoHo as it's heavier than that. They would have to strip it out then it's @ 3250kgs. Driver, half full with fuel, one gas bottle, half a tank of fresh water and nowt else.Yes providing the gross weight is 3500kg or less.

It's the plated weight that governs who can drive not the actual weight.Yes, my lads can't drive our MoHo as it's heavier than that. They would have to strip it out then it's @ 3250kgs. Driver, half full with fuel, one gas bottle, half a tank of fresh water and nowt else.
I have just had cause to check on UK speed limits for a job
Went to the govt web site and was shocked to see the speed limit reduction to 50 for single track, 60 for dual track and 70 for motorways is related not to vehicles over 3.5t but over 3.05t
Now that means an awful lot of motorhome owners in vans plated at 3.5t have been thinking they are fine at 70 on a dual carriageway when in fact they are limited to 60 mph
I am sure I am well behind the times and more people know this than less, but thought it worth a heads up
