It is raining here in Benidorm and is also quite chilly. The wind is forecast to pick up again tonight although not as bad as last night when it was reportedly gusting at 85mph. Outlook is for brighter, drier and warmer weather in the coming week.

Javea had storms last night, but It will be a day or two before the gloating starts.
Once the wind drops and they can keep the road sweepers on the road, it will all be back to normal. (y)
The water was coming over the wall at the port, and some idiot went to take a photo, and his car needs recovering from the marina. Bob.

Many years
Inland from Denia, northern Costa Blanca - it is VERY rough.

Still constant gale force winds, freezing cold, and rain lashing down....and that's after the 4 inches of snow we had 4 days ago; then the hailstorms we had three days ago, and the two days and nights of constant heavy rain and sever gales since then.

We're enduring a further 64mm of rain here today and winds of 55kmph, gusting to over 80kmph, on top of the massive amounts in the past few days.

Latest local forecast is for yet more rain....18mm... throughout tomorrow (Monday), but then at long long last for it to dry up and the sun to finally make a long awaited reappearance on Tuesday.

Much of the rest of the country has endured very very cold weather and massive amounts of snow over the past week.

In our 14 years living here, whilst we have had isolated days of massive storm, or massive rainfall once or twice a year, this is by far and away the worst and most violent extended string of snow/hail/cold/ high winds/torrential rain that we've experienced in this Valencian region of the country.

According to our local village townhall, it's the now officially the worst weather 7 days period here in all the 104 years that they've got records for.

Last Winter in Spain? Make a note in your diary for next year, post on here where you are and what's it like.
It has been our worst also, but most of the other 17 have been fantastic, we didn't get put off and this one will certainly not put us off. Had lunch on Patio today, nice and warm, getting warmer tomorrow.
Snow here in Totana, where our house is, first for 34 years, walking in the hills yesterday, snow on the trails, Spanish arriving to experience this strange event..........its winter, the winter of 2016/17, a different one, you might say, quite funny for us, our house, our hills, so different to see them like this, taken photos to record such a memorable time.

Since july 2009 And Still Going Strong
We've been here in central Portugal since early December and have had a handful of wet days but the rest of the time has been wall to wall sunshine. Very frosty at nights, been removing 2cm thick ice from the animal drinking buckets/troughs. 2 fleeces first thing but into shorts and t shirts for the rest of the day.
Going to need some rain soon otherwise the farmers will be worrying about the water supply for the summer.
