Thought this may be of interest to you guys that are coming to Spain. The difference, so far as the law is concerned between Parking and Camping

Interesting read..... thank you (y)

As a matter of interest the Camper Contact web site (or app) often lists unofficial stop overs as 'camping behaviour not allowed'. I think follow these rules and most countries are OK for non site parking :)

I don't think it is massively different in France for the rules for Aires. But of course what the law says and what actually happens can be different things and unless the police are feeling bored you are probably going to be fine - assuming there is the space to put chairs out, which isn't always the case on some of the places we have used in Spain on this trip.

We were told last winter even the raising of a roof mounted satellite dish is considered camping. Parking inside the Ley de Costa zone ie. inside of the 500m zone inland from the coastal markers is also problematic in some areas. Parking never mind overnighting in car parks on the first line is also banned in some places. Each Townhall has its own rules and Police to enforce them.
