Thanks everyone unfortunatelly melenoma is very hard to beat and really terminal a matter of time. All depending how I respond to chemo etc...unluckily my tumor does not have the Brack gene which 50% of people have and can be targeted with certain combinations of drugs and has spread to lungs and bone but not badly yet. It's strange how well I feel and I'm in very good humour. And that line in Prince song sign of the times " a man ain't truly happy till his truly dying" kinda makes sense to me in a strange way to be honest! As you can plan your end hopefully giving family and loved ones time to adjust.....

I am a fighter and trying everything.
Ordered an expensive juicer and trying an organic fruit/veg regime as it's supposed to fight cancer? Cancer feeds off your protein and if no protein destroys your muscle. Once I get stabablised on dialaysis I will be able to have stronger combinations of chemo.

So....we live in hope guys!:)

There was a rumour that cannabis helped keep the illness at bay

Hi Mr Judge Mental,
So sorry to hear that you are not well but good news that you are feeling feisty. We haven't met but you made helpful comments about The Kittens {now Big Cats } when I posted, and I enjoy reading your posts
I am not great at the old 'e' but adding a cut 'n' paste link
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/04/18/deadly-tumours-destroyed-by-radical-new-therapy/
which you may already know about- it is a combination new therapy for melanoma hailed by several medics/newspapers/New Scientist as a major breakthrough. Ask your doctor about it- trust your own judgement about your own body and health.
Much love and a wellness wish. Kirsten

I think but not sure this is the treatment you can have if you have the Brak gene. seeing the oncologist Wednesday and will check. I know ex president Jimmy Carter has Melanoma and is having this treatment with good results.

I have a brother in law who is a psychiatrist in LA his best mate is a leading authority on skin cancer unfortunately not the 5% that constitutes Melanoma. but when my brother in law gets back from cruise he is going to investigate specialists there and I have arranged for my records to be sent when and if..and brother in law setting up and online consultation I hope! money in the bank pointless now:(

My Renal consultant warned that in America they throw everything at a disease to see if it works, here they re more careful..I dont know if that's true will have to see. But when I think about it the tumor in my leg used to be very painful and was taking full coarse of paracetamol daily. If our cats jumped on me it used to hurt..now it does not so I may well be reacting well to the chemo...everything crossed!!!!:)

Having spent the last five hours driving up to NW Scotland in what are often called "interesting conditions" I thought I could better any tales of drifts in Sarf London, have to say you took the wind out of my sails with posts contents.

It seems somewhat odd offering support and advice to someone you only have a virtual friendship with, although I was looking forward to meeting you at some point as I see you as a kindred spirit with a social conscience and a big heart, key ingredients for any mate of mine. I'm not a religious person so I can't say you'll be in my prayers, but you will be in my thoughts and I hope that you can beat this bastard.

You're certainly adopting the right mindset, remaining positive and aware of the importance of family, although I would suggest you should be partying like it's 1999 from his highness's repertoire, rather than the thoughtful ones.

All the best

Hi Eddie,
Good luck with the fight - sure you are up for it!

Don't underestimate the American idea, my friend has taken his son over for Proton Beam treatment in Florida which is not available here. Although oddly its being funded by the NHS.
Our thoughts are with you and your family.

Now a year !
Morning Eddie,
Well this is sad news. I know, from your posts, you will fight as hard as you can and if anyone can beat this- you are the type that will.
I have not been on the forum much lately, but did notice the lack of posts from you, and they were missed.
I am sure that you are worried for the family, they will feel helpless, and when it is yourself, you kind of worry more for them.
Take every avenue you can, look for advice, your brother in law sounds a great starting point.
I really hope that you get many more good days and months, and years.
Eddie I only know you from the site, but love seeing your funny, controversial and helpful posts. Long may it continue.
You are in the right place for great care, my cousin, just about 1 mile from you, is in remission with a similar condition. Lets really hope that you are one of the ones that recovers again.
Best wishes
Linda

Oh Eddie. So sorry to hear the news ... chemo is a bummer but mark each session off to keep you going to that last session..you can do it. Don't do prayers as such but great believer in the inner strength we all have and will think of you in meditation... You know what you are up against and I know you will show it what a rival you are.

Not going into detail but I too recently looked at the canabis treatment. Two things: it makes certain cancers grow faster..and also it works out about four thousand pounds for nine weeks for the dose for breast cancer... You cannot in this country get it on NHS but America does recognise it as a treatment. It is't just the canabis you smoke.

I mean it when I say miracles do happen and our inner strength can do wonders. Ask if there are any trials taking place .. well worth considering. Also please be open minded if they offer any support by way of alternatives .. meditation for example. Oh dear .. I am sorry I am lecturing...:( ..it is because I care and want you to get through the treatment quickly and come back with good news.

Sending you and your family a huge hug.

Afternoon Eddie, from our 'natters' I already knew but I'm glad you've told your funster forum friends now - I told you that you're a very popular and well thought of chap ... yes really! :D

I know you'll battle this as hard as you can and sincerely hope you beat it ... I need my favourite sparring partner to be on here! :p

PS: Seeing as your wife and kids hate your Smart car don't forget to mention me in your will so that I can be the new loving 'parent' for it ... not that I expect it to come to me for a long, long, loooooooonnnnnggggg time ... (y):X3:
