A sales man going door to door selling fridges.

Calls on one house, three spinsters answer the door.
Morning ladies, I have a real bargain to-day, I got one fridge left on me van that you can have for £30.00. First spinster says, lets think about it shall we. No, no the other two say. We only have to pay £10.00 each, and our old one is so old be nice to have a new shiny one in the kitchen.

Sales man back in his van sorting the day’s paper work out discovers that the fridge should have only been £25.00. So, thinking fast he comes up with the idea that if he takes £ 3.00 to the ladies (that’s £1.00. each back) that they will be happy. If he pockets the other £2.00. then, the paper work will be right and every one will be satisfied and he is £2.00 better off.

So, Now the ladies are more than happy having only spent £9.00 each.

    Lets work this out.

    Fridge £30.00

    Ladies £10.00 each

    = £30.00.

    Ladies £1.00 back each

So now the ladies have only paid £9.00.

    Now 3x9 = £27. (£27)

    Driver. £2.00 £2.00 in pocket.

    = £29.00

What happened to the other £1.00 ? :)

    Its all in the math.

If the ladies had paid £9 to start with its still £27....3 x £9 = £27.

Less £2 into his pocket = £25 for the fridge.

I hate these things with a vengeance... I can NEVER understand them.. I know it's something to do with going backwards instead of forwards .. but it still confuses me... You can do it with using your fingers on a pan costing ten pounds and it drives me dotty. :)

Count the fingers on both hands starting with your right hand counting backwards..

    10 9 8 7 6 now stop and add the other 5 fingers....6 +5 total =11 fingers.
