I am thinking of buying and installing myself a 80w solar panel but am unsure how to do it properly. I have two 100amph batteries which charge off the onboard charger and the alternator via split charger but the starter battery only charges off the alternator so I have the following questions:

1 how do i phisically connect the solar panel to the regulator/controller and the leasure batteries

2 can I connect starter battery to the solar panel system as well and if so how

please keep it simple and pictures / diagrams will help

thanks in advance

panel to reg...no probs, it will be in the fitting instructions for the regulator.

reg to batteries....either direct to the batteries or, as i did, connect to the onboard chargers 12v output terminals.

engine battery.....easiest way is a three pole switch (on/common live/on) between the reg and both batteries....one side to engine battery and one to leisure batteries and input power from reg to the center....simply switch between engine and leisure... means more wiring to the engine battery though.
