Thought I'd share my latest gadget with you all and thanks to Techno100 (Andy) who supplied and did a fantastic fitting job, I should never have to worry about my battery status or alarm draining the battery whilst in storage again.

3 x 100 watt panels fitted along with a 25amp 300 watt MPPT regulator which, with the onboard controller relay, tops up both habitation batteries (x5) and vehicle battery.
To finish off, chequer plates added to the roof to avoid damaging the roof surface from my size 10's denting the roof panel when I have to go up there to give them their occasional wipe.

Watching the regulator LCD, it was surprising what charge they generate - even when it's cloudy.

Great job Andy - very neat & tidy installation - thanks very much.

hi Andy just wondering if you can shed any light on my present delema got 170 solar panels through mppt dial showing 12.2/12.4/ i have 3 120 amp batteries this morning decided to take them out and check each 1 12.2 battery tester on flickering green just put 1 battery back as was informed [rightly or wrongly] batteries are kaput
now my display for 12 volts wont come on on site electrician has checked it all out but cant find why 12 volts not working electric is fine been informed 2 possibilities 1 battery is kaput or 12 volt fuse board blown, any ideas will be appreciated presently 12.3 and 0.wont go any higher even on trickle charge

A normal charged battery should read 12.7 or more. Are you saying all three are reading the same low voltage? when disconnected.

If all three are down on voltage I would say they are discharged rather than knackered as it is unlikely that all would fail at once.

If your charger is working you should be seeing at least 13.6 volts and even one knackered battery would most likely cause the charger to push out at maximum 14.4 typical which could cause the charger ultimately to fail and possibly boil the batteries as the good ones would be overcharged while trying to support a duff one.

Battery voltage is low and charge is optimistic given the state of the sky. How may watts of solar did you say?
EDIT 170 watts yes I suppose that's reasonable. Batteries are low though, have you been using them?
