Well that`s our 13th year & still loving it.
Has anyone tried one of these small output battery solar panel battery top up chargers?

We bought this one from Maplins, product code N92HJ.
Connected to Chris`s summer run around toy an MX5, car has been parked facing south without the alarm set, so just the internal digital clock running.

Tried to start it yesterday battery oops no way, charged it up for 3 hrs and off she went...

Don`t think I,m recommend this product.

Yep i did the same. It was recommended as a winter tool, would even charge with cloud, and the little blue light was flashing all day to say it was charging. But not at all.

Bought a set of heavy duty jump leads now. Much more reliable

Lads, a worthwhile maxim is always 'there aint no such thing as a free ( or cheap ! ) lunch

If one of those Halfraud things worked ok do you really think a lot of us would be lobbing out 3 to 500 beer tokens on solar panels ?

I assume you purchased on hope not maths.

12V 2W = 2/12 = 0.16A in bright sunlight.

Make that winter and more like 0.016A or 16mA.

You had the right idea but wrong panel. Don't give up, buy a bigger one, probably off ebay and make sure it gets the maximum sun which can't be easy in a little sports car.

Those small panels are not useless, they will charge phones, camera batteries etc in the summer but output on a grey winters day is next to nowt, just enough to power the blue LED, hee hee.
