Solar panel

    Advice required on what portable solar panel funsters have found best for charging I Pad,Kindle,Mobile phone.

    You should be able to charge your devices from your 12 volt battery so the solar panel would be to recharge the 12 volt battery. If you need a solar panel the easiest is to stick 100 or 120 watts on the roof but otherwise a 60 or 80 watt portable solar should do OK keeping you topped up.

    Thank you, however the type of panels I am considering are the ones you can plug the appliances directly into so can be used independently when away from the van.

    Size matters. You've got to need at least a foot square, better bigger. Modern smart phones have serious batteries inside. You need 2A at 5V at least to get the job done.

    Thank you for the advice , I don't think I'll pursue the portable solar option for charging I pad,mobiles etc. Asking the question has been very worthwhile ,many thanks to all who have replied.
