I want to change my charge controller for a one with a digital display , is it ok to disconnect the original one and reconnect the replacement while the roof mounted panel is exposed to the sunlight or do I need to cover it up ......thanks

If you havent got an inline isolation switch then it is better to cover them up. Disconnect the solar first then the batteries. Reverse the procedure when reconnecting. Batteries first then solar input. Hope this helps.

Hi.. should be a straight forward swap... If you don't cover the panel just make sure the wires are insulated and no dander of contact while working... There should be a fuse on the controller to battery side you could pull to isolate that side...
I think most controllers require the battery side connecting first before reconnecting the panel to the controller. .
