you can buy a box of 125 mixed rubber grommets for less than a fiver.. .. 4p each

no idea if they would stand the heat or not..

Edit
I think they need to be silicone rubber .. am looking for a generic product

You can buy cheap grommets from Maplins but they don't last long, so now we don't both with any grommets and just put tea towel under glass cover to stop rattles.

The cost will be in the admin & the handling, not the product itself. If you can buy by the 100s, they will be cheap enough to give away like sweeties on the FUN stand at shows.

I thought they were expensive as well, especially when sold in packs.
Best price I found was £1.02 at Norfolk Marine.

I found some alternatives a couple of years ago that cost pennies in a hardware store. But I couldn't recommend them as they quickly went brittle and disintegrated

The new improved ones are grey not black they are slightly better but not much. Had the black ones replaced under warranty with grey ones 6 months ago, 2 of them have broken so far this holiday, when they fitted them I scrounged a couple of spares so OK for now.
On the last van never broke any of the black ones in 6 years, something has changed either the grommet material or hole size.

... to use instead of the pan stand holders on our Smev cooker! :)

All of ours have gone brittle and at around £1 each minimum for the 'proper' ones at the price it's worth a punt on these. :D

Yep Jim, free from the Smev/Dometic stand at the Dusseldorf Show, along with a replacement rotisserie for the oven. I did have my wallet out, but they declined payment whilst thanking me for buying their product. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

A couple of ours are loose and come out when you lift the pan stand but they are 10 years old. As you say it would appear that something has changed.

11yrs, but many years a tugger.
These are the ones for our RV ...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/American-Motorhome-RV-Magic-Chef-Cooker-Grate-Grommets-43614-/180624246623

£5.68 delivered for four. One pound postage, which is fine, so £4.68 for the grommets is £1.17 each. Now my mum, God rest her soul, who left us this May aged 97, always said, look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves. However, for that price I can't be bothered to struggle, it is what it is. Also, if you look closely, they are a bit of a shape. Please don't tell my mum if you bump into her. o_O

Purchased a set four odd years ago, anticipating problems, never used them. :)

I looked at these before, and they are too small a diameter for the hole in the cooker hob. ..

The hole on the cooker is 6.5mm dia .. the pan stand legs are 5mm dia
