    It's misleading the way they phrase it.

    It makes it seem that the top 100 apps are all hacked apps.

    What they actually mean is that the scumbags have made a copy of the software and added a hacked version in addition to the original.

    The original version will be well near the top of the listings and have loads of reviews. (except in such cases like the BBM app which is rare).

    Pay attention when and be vigilant when choosing an app to download.

    I have stopped at the install stage more often that I can care to imagine because an app wants more privileges than it needs. A quick review noting this helps others.

    Its not as scary as the article makes out but it is a problem.

    I can see how easy it is to change the content of apps
    To harvest info if you have the knowledge
    whilst you the punter feels safe
    Giving little attention to security
    Unfortunately there seems to criminals hiding everywhere
