Hi all,
We are planning Calais-Brugges -Dijon- Le mans- Calais, (roughly) can anyone suggest small sites, in any of the regions? We are looking for peace and quiet, facilities are not important but we'd want a pretty site. I've found a few on the UKCC website, are there any other websites that you use to search?
Thanks
Dawn

Hi Dawn we have travelled up from Cognac (Poitou Charentes) many times and thee sre some great places to stay. I would recommend you buy the Vicarious Aires book which features smaller places to stay although not all with hookups. Depends where you cross the Seine to travel back up to the tunnel really. We have stayed at La Suze sur Sarthe pretty river and town with a small municipal campsite next door if the aire is full. Also Beaulieu is good. We usually avoid the tolls around Le Mans - very expensive even for short distances.
We have stayed at Broglie (6 spaces no hookups last time we visited). Malleraye is right on the river and you can watch the ships travelling up and down the Seine. Other than that you can stop at Honfleur and use the bridge at le Havre (Honfleur is a big motorhome aire but right by the town). A bit too busy and commercialised for us if we fancy going touristy we usually stay at Le Treport. Equihen Plage is a pretty spot on the way up to the tunnel near Boulogne. If you hit lucky you can park on the cliff and see right across to the White Cliffs, fab beach too. I could go on. We usually stay away from sites and stick to the aires but maybe this would not be your bag. Hope this may help anyway. Have fun!
