Is there a small version of the cigarette lighter socket?

Our MH (Spanish origin) has an extractor / downlight unit above the gas hob. In this unit are 2 sockets, one I know is a 240v, 2000w Schuko, but the other is a mystery. It's round, like a 12v cigarette lighter socket but it's a smaller diameter. Any ideas?

We believe this would be what is known as a 'DIN Socket'. It is much better than your standard 12volt sockets, a very positive connection, used a lot in the leisure industry.

I think the term might be a Hella 2 pole socket - see range Here.

Adapt-it do an Adaptor to enable appliances fitted with cigarette lighter plugs to use the socket.

We have an exterior socket (with covering flap) next to the fresh water inlet on our van of the Hella type. It's there for use with a submersible pump to fill the water tank from a jerrycan or similar.

Quite right John. As Wikipedia explains, DIN is the abbreviated name of the Deutsches Institut für Normung (German Institute for Standardization) and is used in the names of its standards.
