We are due to collect our van next week, and intend to stay a night locally so we can thoroughly test everything before we head back to Southport. Any problems we can pop back to the dealers to be fixed.

Any recommendations for sites local to gateshead at this time of year, which allow a dog?

Not much open around here, most close October time.

You could always drive North of Newcastle and stay at the Drift Inn ?

CC site at Grange (Durham) is open all year.

Again in Durham there is the Finchale Abbey site.

Where are you picking the Motorhome up from ?

So that is the Geist site at Birtley. I would think that Finchale or Grange would be ideal for you. I presume that you have been to the dealer before ? If not PM me for any assistance ::bigsmile:

Thanks.
We have not been to the dealer (or the area) before, but hopefully the new satnav will get us there ok.

Although it is listed as being the Gateshead branch, it is actually at Birtley which is just north of Chester-le-Street. The turn off is just before the washington services on the A1.
If you reach the Angel of the North, you have gone too far

Camper UK is on the inds. est. just off Follingsby Lane (I was taught to drive there many years ago). It is not in Birtly. If you stay on the A1 travel past the services at Washington, the motorway splits about half a mile beond the services take the right fork then the slip for the 2nd roundabout 2 miles from the fork and you will be at the edge of the estate its obvious from there. The C.C. sites at at Durham or Stockton (Teeside) would be my first choices at this time of year, I have used both when visiting family. Finchale will be very quiet and its a long walk to the pub. Hope the new vans okay, cheers Paul.

New Geist Sales Site in Birtley

We've moved our Gateshead sales site from Follingsby Park to Birtley, right next to the A1. Come along and see our great range of new and used caravans and motorhomes!

I was up there yesterday and it is most certainly at Birtley - do not go to Follingsby Park
