Hi folks just wanted to let you know about a lovely site in France in the Charente Maritime area called twinlakes Easy access to a lovely large touring field. 10 amp. There is a bar on site, lovely pool and they have a rustic kitchen for pizza's chips and they even do Sunday lunches. Pig roast monthly in summer season, and weekly quiz night is a hoot, prices for high and low season but the fishing is included in you nightly rate!!!!! they even have a hairdresser on site
Clean shower block and washing matching. Highly recommended

Since 1968'ish
this on perhaps??

in the region of Charente-Maritime
17130 Soumeras
Take exit 37 of the A10, follow signs for Mirambeau.

When you arrive in Mirambeau take you first left onto the D730 follow signs for Montendre.

Twin Lakes is situated 10 mins ???? = 10 miles ?? on the right hand side ---

so is that before the D253(E1) side road or any of the other seven side roads down the D730 toward Soumeras??

Will be down that way later next month for a few weeks .............all being well ::bigsmile:
If you have better co-ordinates that would help others :winky:

Highly recommend Twin lakes, as other contributors have said. Gary and Jan always give a warm welcome, leaving tomorrow for Brittany for a few days and then on to Twin lakes for some peace and quiet, quality fishing and a few beers.
Signposted on the right after 14.9Km (13-20minutes -No traffic) coming from Mirambeau and 3.4Km before the centre of Montendre on the D730.
Two supermarkets and an evening Market in Montendre....
30km to Blaye on the west coast which has a Big aire on the front by a really big Market once a week and Royan is just 67Km away.
Hope this helps:Smile:

Greetings,

Just a question.

Is twin lakes the site that was part of a TV programme a few years back where the Brit couple started a campsite from nothing. (I remember the chap wrestling with a huge catfish when he had to drain one of the lakes?)

Bel air is all of the above at 11.90 a night,we like the area so gonna chill for a few days with all site facilities ..........unless some one knows different ::bigsmile:

also On the Isle D`Oleron there is the municipal site St Denis-D`Oleron at 9e all inclusive good shower /toilet block no wifi but an easy and pleasant place to explore and enjoy on your bike ::bigsmile:
