Silver screens are good for the winter as they keep your front and sides windows warm and they do not condensate, also for privacy, we also have summer screens, they reflect the sune to keep the camper cooler and you can see out but no one can see in.

relatively easy to fit and done from inside....obviously

but you have to go outdoors in the cold and wet to fit 'em but much better in my opinion.:thumb:

We bought a set of (Fiamma) internal screens initially. Suffered some condensation but not a lot. If you want to see out during the day you have to remove and stow them before refitting again in the evening.
About 15 months ago we bought a set of (Taylor Made) external screens which have a fold down section to enable seeing through the windscreen during the day. No condensation and we find them preferable to the internal screens.
Another point I've seen made is that for people who go free camping (lay bys, car parks etc) internal screens are probably preferable as you don't have to go outside to remove them if the need arises to move on sharpish for any reason.

There are advantages and dis-advantages to both internal and external.
Having owned both, this is my view;
External good points
1) Give good insulation particularly in cold weather.
2) Easy to fit as they are a 'one piece' wrap around covering windscreen and both door windows.
3) Easy to pack in small bag.
bad points
1) Have to be fitted and removed from the outside of your van, so if it's raining.....tough, you are going to get wet!
2) If wet during the night you will be packing away a soggy silver screen.
3) Cannot be removed without exiting from your van (see GJH's point on this).
Internal good points
1) Fitted from inside the van so weather conditions dont matter.
2) Able to be removed whilst inside van should you need to move off unexpectedly.
3) Give pretty good insulation but even better heat reflection from sun than external.
bad points
1) Unlike the external they are in seperate sections. One for windscreen and two pieces for each side door window. So it takes a bit more time to fit.
2) Don't stow quite so tightly as the external.
Regards condensation, this only forms when all windows and vents are closed up tight and is quite easily solved if you vent your van!
Even the most basic and elderly of vans have a control on the internal heater panel which enables you to open a circulation vent. Also of course, most campers/mh's have a roof vent. Leave it open! If you can't do that, then just lower the side windows enough for air to circulate. You will not get any condensation!
