Hi All
I'm planning my solar panel installation, and am thinking of using the hole in the roof left behind after I remove the broken satellite dish to run the cables into the van. My issue is that the cables will enter van quite some way from the batteries (5+ metres?), so do I have a long run from panel to controller or from controller to batteries? Or do I just forget re-using the roof hole, and make another more hole in the right place to keep the run as short as possible?

For completeness, my control panel doesnt support a solar feed, so its not involved in any cabling...

Thanks in advance

Steve

keeping the controller near the battery will give you the more precise reading otherwise as long as both sets of cables are the same thickness it makes no differance

Any volt drop is better on the panel side of the regulator as the voltage is higher but use 6mm2 if you can but certainly 4mm minimum.
You can buy lengths with MC4 connectors pre fitted on ebay
