Spotted this interesting awning on Facebook http://www.sheltapodcampervanawnings.co.uk/ a while ago & it is now launched on on Kickstarter. Definitely a lot of interest from FB followers & demand for this in various colours - orange is the first one that will be available & if it sells then blue & green will follow & then possibly grey. Thought this might be of interest to Funsters with campervans:

Seen many comments on FB about this being a great idea, then someone slated it regarding price and the quality...
I have no idea either way so any interest do your research.. (y)

Can it be used as a drive away awning or does it rely upon attachment to vehicle to keep it up.

Understand that it can be used as a driveaway awning but not getting enough take up on Kickstarter so may not go into production :( It seems to be filling a gap in the campervan market but the sales targets (80k ) are very high - Sunncamp only need 500 orders to bring a new awning design to market.
Hopefully if Julie doesn't manage to secure enough funding this way then she will find another way even if the terms are different.

Thinking about it it would be too small for a Hymer or similar?

We like the design & suggested a taller motorhome height version but currently it is designed for campervan height. Probably best to message & check if it might work. We also suggested a more neutral colour like grey for wider appeal but think the VW market is the initial target.

SheltaPod has been available to buy for a while & developed further since launch & is now in grey too for delivery at the end of July https://sheltapod.com/products/pre-order-sheltapod-campervan-awning-grey

Has anyone got one of these & if so how well does it work?
We have a pop up pod tent which is great but it's discontinued now so unable to replace with the same so thinking of one of these as our next option.

How is this better than a Quest PopUp?
Whether it's better or not depends on your useage & requirements - we haven't had both yet to compare.
For us, with limited garage & living space in the PVC we are downsizing to, a Quest shelter is too big & heavy to carry & isn't waterproof or suitable for sleeping in. Also want the shade that the flysheet over the door can give which is built in to the sheltaPod. Some campsites don't allow screen house shelters like the Quest 4 & 6 but do think they are excellent for covered space outdoors & ideal for friends to gather in  There's a great deal on the Kampa version here Broken Link Removed . Other options are fishing umbrellas with panels here https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/the-no-awning-option.177274/ or just a tarp. hung off the van https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/the-no-awning-option.177274/page-3 .
We are trying various options to see what works best for us & that varies again according to whether it's rallies, campsites or Aires.

It’s a pop up tent with a flap???
Think it's a very cleverly designed tent with a flap - won't suit everyone but that's the same with choice of motorhomes - life would be boring if we all liked the same thing!

My daughter has one for her T5 and loves it. It appears to be quite versatile on the smaller vans. Opens up for casual sitting and then can be closed up at night.
