Why do they charge to go into Wales but its free to get into England? Subliminal message perhaps!!!!

Having tolls going from Wales to England would no doubt cause huge queues on the bridge itself, with possibly bad consequences.

Then why were they never worried about the 4 permanent lanes of barely moving vehicles, with at least 50% hgv's, on the QEII Dartford crossing bridge every day of the week ? Any time a complaint was made they fobbed it off. In reality the bridge should have been shut under safety regs.
Now the booth's have gone it is better southbound,it is just 4 solid lanes but moving.

There's now talk of charging both ways, although the price will be dropped, for a while.

National,public and local authorities treat motorists as wallets on wheels,the Mersey tunnels,1st built in the 30s and the second in the 60s,were going to be free after costs met,same old story. The law was written in their favour,in fact they make such a phenomenal profit Merseytravel(the operators) fund a load of vanity schemes such as Spaceport,the Beatles story and the Uboat experience amongst others. Also they have lavish,but ugly, offices on the Pier Head!

The same thing with the dartford tunnel/Queen Elizabeth II bridge, what they do keep is modifying the area to keep the toll's going

It isn't a "toll" anymore since the bridge was paid for& they then introduced a "charge" to deter people from using it calling it an environmental tax. You can't make this stuff up.
