Hello

We are currently in our Burstner in Bulgaira and are looking to travel though Serbia next month. Although our current insurer doesn't cover there, this hasn't put us off as we understand you can get temporary cover at the border.

Does anyone have an idea how much this cover would be and does vehicle size/engine size have anything to do with it?

Also, does anyone recommend any border crossing in particular or which ones to avoid?

Many thanks

Post#1. If you hired the van in Serbia, then you wouldn't need UK insurance to drive it in Serbia. It would already be covered on the Serbia insurance for (obviously) Serbia and Bosnia. The reason you didn't have to pay for additional Green Card cover on the vehicle, is because if it was a Serbian hired vehicle, then it wouldn't need Green Card cover. You only need Green Card cover for another country, not the country your vehicle is registered in.
[HI]However, if you are taking a UK vehicle into Serbia - you 'MUST' take out extra Green Card cover, which is very difficult to find in the UK. At the border into Serbia the cost is €145 minimum. Even if you're just crossing the country in a few hours, it's still €145.[/HI]
