Hi and welcome.

Sorry about being born in Swansea, must of been terrible for you and fully understand why you moved away :winky::ROFLMAO:

I suppose much will depend on how long you are coming over for and what you think the shipping costs will be to the UK.

We are quite and expensive country on the fuel so be prepared to factor in your MPG to your visit, currently fuel is heading towards £1-50 per litre.

There are many wonderful places to visit in the UK but not all of our roads or indeed our caravan sites are structured to take RVs, and therefore it maybe a less stressful option to utilise a european van.

Hire? well some idea I suppose is upwards of £400 per week depending on the length of time you are going to be here.

We met an Australian couple over in France last year and this is what they done. They had an aunt living in the UK. they came over, bought a van, insured it using Aunties address, they then toured for six months and then placed the van back up for sale at Aunites untill it was sold. This was the second time they done it, the first time they only lost £1000 for six months touring. Not a bad idea if you have a relative over here..

Any more questions fire away,

I hope you come and enjoy your stay.:thumb:

Can't remember ;)
Hi Kim & Alan and welcome :thumb: Depending on the length of your stay Paul's - haggers - idea of buying and selling is the best if you can afford it :thumb:M/H hire in April for decent size will be around £500 a week raising to around 700 in June - if you stay that long :Eeek:
There are company's that will insure you without no claims bonus for around 400 per year if you can get a address :winky:
I do not know if Peter from Johns Cross ( members on here )would be interested in doing a sell and buy back deal , or a long term hire deal ::bigsmile: but I am sure he will pick up on the post soon :winky::thumb:-he does not like to miss an opportunity to make money :thumb::ROFLMAO:

Can't be any practical help, rootbeer, but just wishing you a happy trip.

Not a lot wrong with Swansea, apart from being Welsh. They run some great motor rallies from there, and Wales got a very good silver in last night's rugger, England of course taking gold.

Hi Rootbeer and welcome.

I agree you would probably be best buying and selling a van. Hiring can be very expensive. The decision will probably be dictated by how long you'll want one for.

We've had the same problem the other way round. We visit BC and Alberta every couple of years and have hired in the past - but it's dead money. Last year we bought a trailer there and left it at my cousins in Athabasca.

Buy-Back

Hi Kim & Alan,

Welcome to Fun. I bought my ‘van from a dealer who specialises in buy-back deals, although mine is a keeper for the foreseeable future. I’m not sure about the rules for advertising or endorsing, but if you would like a link to their web site, please drop me a pm.

I hope you have a good trip when you do venture back to this side of The Pond.

Happy Travels,
Richard W.
