We are off touring in September to Germany/Luxembourg area's, carrying a newly purchased 125cc Scooter on a trailer behind the motorhome, has anyone any recommendations, companies etc, for insuring scooters while riding UK & abroad, I do have an old BMW motorcycle, but the company I insure it with will not insure modern scooters, also my existing NCB will be nil on this policy.

Scooter insurance

No, it's a Honda. Have tried the usual internet sites, but because of the NCB, the quotes are high, £180ish fully comp.

would it be worth transfering your ncb or even the other bike across as well. i insure from a 1500cc down to a 90cc only pay 265 .
another way sometimes is have you asked your van insurers if they will give you cover for it.
dont know your age but saga do m,homes and m,bikes now . they keep trying to get me to insure the bikes with them might do it this year.
i find a local broker is very often the best way .mind mine is also into old m,bikes and so is his son so they put abit more effort in.
if you get probs pm i,ll give you their number.
or have a word with jaws he might know someone local . he is the bike man in your area.

Query

Can anyone advise if you can ride someone else's motorbike if you've got fully comp car insurance? I know it covers other cars . I do have a full motorbike license.

hi, some car /camper insurances allow it .but the problem is the vehicle as to show up as insured on the data base now. doesnt matter if you are fully comp ot tpft .if it allows it it does .
just a nod that all insurance will cover for 12months abroad even if only the minimum cover for an eu country. uk companies forget to tell you that or lie outright.

Scooter Insurance

We are insured with Comfort, don't know if they will cover scooters as part of the M/H insurance, if not, I may have to transfer my other bike insurance to another company.

Hi, I am with Bennetts and have a 400cc Burgman. It is fully com at £74 including unlimited European cover and £50 excess plus protected NCB. I have been with them off and on for a number of years. They sometimes honour your vehicle NCB to cover the scooter.
