Am I right in thinking MHs can now park on the front at Scarborough now?
Want a night away with the Grandson this weekend, but only have Sat night available and it is easy to get to from Bradford on Sat dinner time after, the dreaded WORK!

No, motorhomes are banned from parking at night or over night.
You can park during the day though....double standards by our illustrious council.
Sleeping in ANY vehicle was banned a long time ago.
Same applies to the sealife centre carpark.

Depends what you mean by "the front".
Marine Drive is subject to a SBC order which prohibits waiting/parking by motor caravans between 11pm and 7am. That order applies to all SBC car parks including, as John says, the Sea Life Centre (officially named Scalby Mills car park).

Sandside, Foreshore Road and Esplanade are all subject to a NYCC order which prohibits waiting/parking by motor caravans between 11pm and 7am.
However, as NYCC says on its web site "Any other unrestricted road remains available for motorhome parking. It is important to always check the local signs and road markings before parking in an area."

I think Valley Road will be the nearest permitted parking to the seafront....the road under valley bridge.
Not sure if its pay and display or disc parking but is outside the motor caravan restrictions.
If you can get parked at the seafront end (Ramshill/Vernon road roundabout) its a level 10 minute stroll (all but the last 150 mtrs which is a gentle gradient) to the beach and amusement arcades.
Still not sure about sleeping though.

Not much "Joy" in the East Riding either. Bridlington Is part of the ERCC bailiwick and any sort of Motor-home parking is severely "frowned upon". By the "Beverley Gestapo".

Am I wrong In thinking there used to be "parking" off North Marine Rd, Burniston Road? and even Queens Road?

Valley road is pay and display from the junction of Grosvenor Rd, before this it's disc zone. Not sure if you have to pay on an evening, the disc zones end at 6pm.
We would be happy to give you a day permit but our road is above Valley Rd so a bit of a steep hill down to the front.

Lin :)
Edit I think our zone covers a tiny bit of Valley Rd just before the pay & display but I have never managed to find a signage, but it shows about 20m of it on our zone map.

The sealife centre carpark is now included in the restrictions.....no parking between 11pm and 7am....7 days a week.

Thanks lin.
No charge on an evening between 5:30pm or 6pm (depends where parked) and 8am (9am sundays).
a ticket will continue to the next morning if it didnt expire the same day as bought.
ie: 3hr ticket bought at 4pm will expire at 9am (or 9:30 as above except sunday where it will be 1hr later)

Pete
North marine road and Queen street dont have any carparks....only on street parking.
Burniston road carpark is currently being redeveloped as a leisure centre/village...not sure if there is still any public parking allowed.

What Scarborough council are saying is.....

If you come here in a motorhome, when the shops close you can sling yer hook....we dont want you.

Even the park n ride stops at 7pm and the gates are locked so to come to the town for a show or a film means you have to drive into town and park.

Won't be going there then, looks like the West coast somewhere, at least it is approx similar miles.
Will never go to Scarborough or Bridlington again, MH or car

Just sent a letter to Mr Bowe showing that the district has missed out on a family visit that would have spent maybe £100-150 around there in 24 hrs, shopping, eating, amusement of grandchild etc.
The place is hardly full at this time of year and that overnight parking, inc sleeping could be relaxed in the winter months.
Not that I intend even venturing into the area ever again.

You can stop on the front at Royal Albert Drive. I have done so in the past.

It's a shame because the Yorkshire coast is far superior to the West coast, but they seem determined to keep motorhomers out, whereas the opposite is true on the West Coast.

The circumstances in Scarborough are entirely different from those of Fylde/Blackpool for the historical reasons which have been posted previously.
Please see Broken Link Removed Hope it explains sufficiently :)

Blackpool will be allowing overnighting on seventeen of their car parks from April. Toby Carvery in Blackpool allow overnighting if you eat or drink in the pub. Lytham have allowed it for some time and as flat as a fluke.
