Hi all,
just purchased a snipe satellite receiver, Can anyone tell me if the base mounting plate has to be screwed through the fibre glass roof and into a support or can I just secure with Sikaflex?
Thanks in advance,
Lee.

Hi @leeboy

I've just bought one too, but have decided NOT to make it a fixture. I know it's a pain, but will just plonk it on the roof (via the rooflight) leaving just the cables 'permanently' ran inside, ready to hook up.
Decided to do it this way in case I changed the van.

@lennyhb is a bit of a guru as far as Snipe systems go. I'm sure he will answer your post. If not, PM him.

I sent mine to my dealer to fit as it was a new van & they used screws as well as Sika. Sikaflex would probably hold OK as you have a large area to bond. It's quite a lump up on the roof so screws may give added security but how well will they hold in a GRP roof. (My roof has 2mm GRP panels bonded to the aluminum roof).

If it was me I would mount with Sika, once the Sika has gone completly off give it some testing, easy to add the screws later.
