My Galaxy Ace has gone on strike, the phone call ring tone is working fine, but the text notification ring refuses to operate.

My thoughts are to run a factory reset, can anyone advise if I will loose all my contacts, if I do so?

or

Is there a simple way to restore my text notification ring. I have tried every tune in the bank, all with no luck.

Thanking all in advance.

Your contacts will be deleted from the phone by a factory reset but if they are linked to your Google account are downloaded again when you log in to the phone again after reset. When you create a new contact it will ask you where you want that contact stored. If you chose Google they will be safe, if you choose the phone they won't.

If the contacts are saved on the phone and not on a SD card you will lose them with a reset unless you back them up to Samsung Kies on your PC.
