Fully comprehensive £206, next cheapest was Comfort at £308, our van is 1 year old, it gives new for old. Didn't even ask about alarms, we have a strikeback growler and the non starter. Didn't think to try them last year. Double checked and Nick's car accident is on there. Am I just looking for trouble? We have breakdown with Fiat assist.
Any experiences good or bad please?

New customer.. No breakdown and you live in Dorset not wild west Birmingham...
Sounds a fair deal...

I paid £299 last year inc breakdown.... went up to £310 this year but works for me..

We recently purchased a MH & were surprised that none of the so called specialist MH insurers could compete with Adrian Flux - who were by far the best value with the same or better cover @ £223 p.a. fully comp.

Saga quoted £355.

Hi Carolyn,
We've used them for the last 5 years, we have house ins & car ins with them, never need to claim on moho policy, but had to on house policy they were very good ,just had to get 2 quotes they authorised immediately & paid the bill ( when job done) less my excess by return of post. can't fault them. hope you told them you have another policy with them as they knock a % off for that.
Each year I get other quotes & they have always come very close to matching.
Not this year as they were about £70 out , only offered to come down £20 so I've gone with the caravan club @ £239
Hope this helps Terry

Thank you everyone, we will go with Saga but get quotes again next year, sounds like they draw you in then just hope you don't check again. We will need breakdown next year so Safeguard may well be worth a look then. We had them fir our old van and used the breakdown twice and they were great in France.

We have all vehicles & breakdown with them, been with them for years, never had a price hike. One other quote this year was slightly lower so Saga added a couple of the extras for free, which made it the best value.
We've never had to make a claim though. Touch wood...

just been quoted £234 fully comp for a brand new bailey 635 with NCD protection and up to 5000 miles per year which I am happy with . Had my caravan insurance with them for a few years, reasonably priced but luckily I've not had to make a claim !

Not long enough!
Whatever the price ALWAYS check the cover. Ensure it is what you need, especially windscreen cover if you have an A class.
If you have not given the correct information, the problems will start if you ever have to claim.
Then they will check your answers.

Insurance companies are like drug dealers. Cheap to get you hooked, then increase the prices.
Moral standards probably aren't too dissimilar either

Anyone ever wondered why they charge a renewal fee - seems like a sharp practice to me.

I've never knowingly been charged for this - and not had a price hike either to mask it.

The insurance premium tax has also been increased this year by George Osborne from 6% to 9.5% :(

I can't even begin to understand the philosophy of insurance brokers who quote low prices to get you in and then start making horrendous increases when it comes to the time of renewal. Up until a few weeks ago I had one of my cars insured with Adrian Flux, they sent me a renewal notice and quote which was up by quite a large amount on last year, they also sent another piece of paper on which was written the words "we will guarantee to beat any other quote", so why the hell didn't they do the right thing and quote their best price in the first instance?
Because I can't stand this attitude in commerce I moved my policy having got multiple quotes via "Go Compare" with the cheapest being Saga, so guess who I have gone with?

Just reinsured my N&B 5 year old Arto, it cost £360 but includes UK and European breakdown cover for a van over 3,500 KG. not cheap I know but I think it's a good deal. It was with Saga and it was about the same last year. I always look around though because insurers are a canny bunch. ( for canny replace with crooked)

My experience with saga is cheap quote to get you in then increase every year, if you complain they will instantly drop it back but you have to complain!

On my new van saga were horrendous, placed all sorts of restrictions on storage and wouldn't even give me a quote until I confirmed that the cassoa gold site I was using has not had any fire, theftvor vandalism in the last year. How was I expected to know, the site is under new management.

I will NOT be going back to saga anytime soon and my car policies will be moving at next renewal!

Was with Saga for 5 years , had to keep on arguing about price increases to keep prices down. This year they increased from £218 to £279. Went with Caravan Club (Axa) price £190

Yes, check for renewal in 11 months because they automatically renew and price increases. Got a brilliant quote when had car insurance with them but not overly competitive as stand alone. I use Alan Blundell brokers. Beats every quote every time, every year.
