When I bought my Hymer new,4 years ago I received 12 months insurance from Safe guard. As is common nowadays the renewal quote was a phenomenal increase and I insured with SAGA. On renewal it went up,quelle surprise.I went to Safeguard for a quote and the girl on the phone asked a whole list of questions, the only thing she didn't ask me was my inside leg measurement. At the end of the 'inquisition' she told me that the under writers wouldn't cover my vehicle! I asked her who they were ,it turned out it was Royal Sun Alliance whose CEO was formerlyCEO of RBS who we,the taxpayer bailed out and trousered a nice bonus on leaving. I object strongly to putting money in the hands of these establishment Fagins, but sometimes we have no choice. I did eventually get a brilliant quote from AIB

i have friends with self built truck campers with saga and others with lh drive imports . seems strange they are being silly now .
i was with saga myself but then they decided they didnt want to insure fifth wheelers . that was a few years ago.

As Saga is for the over 50s or 55s whatever it is they seem to think that by that age you should have a big pot of Spare cash....hense the extortionate quotes.

Five years after getting a quote from Saga, the junk mail has finally declined to manageable proportions..............

they did give a very good policy . and covered lots of round the med countries . at the time i was with them also breakdown and recovery everywhere the policy took you . i believe its limited now but friends use them .
when my truck got hit by a 4x4 in portugal they sorted it out ok . i did manage to drive it home but all the portugese side was sorted by saga . i would possibly still be with them very helpfull when needed . a mate needed recovery this year two hours a lowloader came and took his truck to a local garage for a clutch . on a daf 45 . 4 hrs at 27 euro an hour . plus parts back on the road . great service . hardly spoilt our travels .
