We're planning to visit Rudesheim, but have read various reports of a low bridge. As Germany doesn't have "the walking man" on Google maps, please could anyone give us some guidance regarding where this bridge is, so we can plan our route to Campingplatz Rudesheim? We are 3.1m.

Thanks

Just found this on another site might help

This is a picture of the Bingham ferry from the Rudesheim side of the river http://www.davidklyn...RudBinFerry.jpg You can approach the site along the Rudesheim side of the river either from Koblenz or Wiesbaden. The last time we were at the site we arrived via Wiesbaden but left the site in the direction of Koblenz. On another point the final approach to the site has to be made correctly as you could end up going under a low bridge. If I recall correctly you approach from the Wiesbaden side of the site through a car park.

We came down from Koblenz last week, there's roadworks and a diversion which took us up through a small town, where you must take care not to go wrong. Took us up steep hillside and down a 1in5 into rudesheim town. You don't need to negotiate the low bridge to get to the campsite. Sorry don't know if roadworks still on but someone told us they would be working for 4 months on the romantic road. Looks a nice campsite but he wasn't open, was busy getting ready and he told us he made so much money last year he wasn't in a rush to open! Was probably joking but not sure(n)

Ooh - that diversion sounds interesting! It's the road we plan to take and we're 3.8 tonnes - let's hope they are done by then. Will seek advice when we're in Koblenz.

We are 3.5 and 7.5m. Its not scary, just take time through the diversion bit, if its still on. More interesting coming down the hill into rudesheim.....

Very low indeed, the Germans blew it up to cover their retreat. Apart from that we didn't even notice one. A bit of a One Road Wonder place, I think Boppard and Sankt Goar are better. Much nicer section of the Rhein.

Rudesheim has a great musical instrument museum, a funicular up the hillside and...... well not much else any different to many other places on the Rhine.
