Returning but really a newbie
We are planning to leave for the Valencia Region of Spain this weekend, we have done it by car before but this is the first time in the motorhome.

We've done the Bordeaux route and the Millau Viaduct route, we aren't in any great hurry to get to our destination (but we do have to get there) so we plan to use toll free routes through France as much as possible.

Does anyone have any suggestions/tips/warnings about the route through Dijon and Lyon using "N" roads, If so they would be greatly appreciated

Try the N roads! We have never been on a motorway in France during our last seven years of going up and down to Spain. We head for the Viellha tunnel which is a spectacular route passing lovely lakes and 13 tunnels, (all small). The road leads you to Lleida which is an easy town to get through and then follow the road down pass the Ebro all the way to Vinaross.

If you aren't in any rush its worth the effort. The other tunnel nearby called Bielsa is a fantastic route as well as it brings you out in a beautiful national park area before reaching Lleida.

Study your map and keep off the main busy roads - you will enjoy the scenery and stop at all the free aires on the way, that 's the beauty of having a motorhome apart from the fuel overnighting is so easy.

Happy travelling.

If you have not used the route through Limousin, you have missed a treat. From Chartres you can run south, either using the free A20 autoroute to Limoges, which goes through some lovely scenery, or one of the other non-motorway routes. You can stopover at Parc Verger for a break - always a special welcome (and a discount) for Funsters, and there is a great choice of routes to take you on down south. Mind you, with the attractive villages and great markets around here you may never move on!:winky:
