Go a bit further down the A449 to the Y valley, its gorgeous there.

Plenty of walks, canoeing and a tidy pub.

Cant think of much to do at Ross except shopping :)

The Forest of Dean is worth a visit as well plenty of walks and cycling.

Sculpture Trail in Forest of Dean

Tintern Abbey further down the Wye Valley, drive from Monmouth to Chepstow. Bluebell woods soon out in full colour.

Goodrich Castle as well. Ledbury and Eastnor Castle are close by, as is the Cider place in a Much Marcle (forget it's name). Oh, one other place that I nearly forgot that is brilliant if open is Hellens in Much Marcle, a completely original Tudor house with several ghosts, one of which freaked me out so much I nearly fainted (honestly, no bull).

A Bit
Cider place is Weston's, they have a visitors centre its at Much Marcle about 5 miles from Ross, a bit further to Ledbury (the birthplace of that famous person "ME") loads of Walks around Ross and Ledbury or if into lovely views the Malvern Hills are a further 5 miles on.
The Forest of Dean is great for walking and also has a go Ape place with rope slides and Segway Rides.
If you really like your cider then there is also Bulmers at Hereford which includes the Cider Museum.
