Nice, small adults only, dog friendly site on the road between Wells and Cheddar in Somerset. Partly gentle sloping, with hardstanding. Has EH, Water and Chen Emptying point (take care, you could fall in!!) Small unisex shower / toilet block with 4 good sized shower / WC cubicals.
Bus route outside. Open all year. About £17 pn with electric.
Pub is also eating house. Good real Ale and great food if a little pricy.
Near to many attractions including Wells with it's historic buildings, Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury ( with its funny people), Mendip Hills, Weston Super Mare ( with its new pier)

Just checked out their website.
Dogs allowed, but not kids.
Kids "welcome" in the pub and dining rooms, but not on the campsite.
How does that work?
Kids don't crap all over the place.
I have no problem with no kids / no dogs sites, but this is double standards, surely?
This place doesn't deserve to be patronised by families dining there.
Not one for my list, nor I suspect for a few others.

Everbody can make their own choice. What double standard?
There are a load of sites that are adult only that allow dogs. The Old Oaks at Glastonbury is another Adult only, dog friendly site and has featured heavily on this web site but I don't remember anyone moaning about it, well apart from the price per night that is!
I guess adult only, dog friendly sites suit people who have dogs and are happier without kids running around.

I also mentioned Greenachers camping site. They allow kids but not caravans, motorhomes over 7mtr or pets, guess it is tripple standard!!
Jim asked for additional campsites to be included on the forum, hope he does not get negative responses to them all just because they don't suit everyone. :frowny:

OS,
After your initial one line question, the rest of your post bears no relationship to the point I made.
The double standard I was talking about was welcoming kids into the pub for meals etc., but not onto the adjacent campsite.
It appears extra money spent on kids is welcome, but the kids themselves aren't welcome overnight.
I was not criticising the fact that the site itself is adult only.
They are at liberty to allow what they like.
No kids or no dogs (for preference) makes no difference to me, but the partial allowing one or the other as business profit suits isn't something that endears this type of enterprise to me.

THAT is double standards.

Not a "negative" response, just an opinion, and no, this site wouldn't suit me.

Understood John, but I guess the kids are welcome into what is essentially a different enviroment, which incidently has an outside play area as well.
I'm sure it won't suit some but just as sure it will suit many others.

OS,
No doubt it will suit some and to be fair, the place does have some cracking revues.
I simply stated my reasons for not intending to use it.

Nothing suits everyone, eh?

Opinion, nothing more.

Many Thanks for posting Old Soldier much appreciated, its a great idea that funsters take time to post and give feedback on various sites they have stayed at and include in the post what facilities are on offer and any rules that apply to that site. It helps us make an informed choice of whether to stay there or not according to our preference of site types. Keep the postings coming, very useful.(y)(y)
