a delay in the delivery of your new Auto-trail. April has gone to June.
Apparently there is a shortage of Fiat Ducato base vans!

Should I believe it?

I know Rapido only do two models of the seven series now, they used to do loads, it's because they cannot get the half cabs that they marry to alko chassis.

Whether it is acceptable or not is one question, the more important one is how much do you want that particular van? Our promised March delivery turned to May. We waited because we wanted the van.

Common I think.... Always see quiet a few posts here and on other places about Delays on delivery...
Autotrail do seem to be one of them that gets mentioned regular..

I am far to impatience, It has to be in stock and ready to go for me.. (y)

You'll find "delays" are well covered in the purchase contract you no doubt signed so you have no choice but to swallow and wait. Disappointing but I'm sure it will be worth it in the end (y)

Yep when I read the small print I found that there was a bit of leeway on the delivery... but there was a time limit before you had the right to cancel. .. in my case I think it was 6 weeks...
Guess what they used just about all of that 6 weeks before saying it was available :)

@jenny and mitch

I have ordered an Apache 700.

I have been offered a 2017 model now but to wait for the 2017 registration (march), means the mh would have been outside for 6 months. A 6 month old van, i gave it a pass

How long do you think the chassis/cab has been stood in a shipping distribution compound ?

Its still a 2017 van the number on the front is just for vanity ( see what I did there) .. nobody these days knows or cares what the plate is, anyone who does is clinging onto an old ideal that is long gone..

Sorry, i dont agree. When you come to sell it, the motor world just type in the reg number and hey presto, up comes the valuation.

Think you will find that they are hoping the pound to euro rate will recover as fiat chassis are costing more here.

I do not know but maybe the assembly line has to be set up differently to allow for making cabs without rear wheels on. Have seen them delivered as 2 cabs bolted together back to back. Bit like a push me pull you, haha.

Agree, we collected our mohome on 9th Feb this year on a 65 plate another three weeks would have been 16 plate, bovvered, no, as you say it's still the same age and if I really cared I would get a personalised number.

It's not quite the same thing, but similar. My car is on a 65 plate and I took delivery 6 days before the March change in registration letter. It will be worth a bit less when I change it because if the date letter, but I paid less for the very same reason. The dealer was desperate for a sale before the date letter changed. Not the same thing with motorhomes I know as all the cards seem to be in the hands of the dealer.

So why is there a delay, because non are available??
Doesn't mean it hasn't been built though.
The distribution yards work on a Rota system, not because someone ordered some.
Could be a few hundred but until they get to them that's where they stay.
Can you imagine moving hundreds of vehicles just to get a hundred out early.

Age and condition once its 3 years old. MH even more. In the book the plate is a few hundred pounds tops.. Turning up with a clean Van with FSH and low mileage. you can pretty much tout it round for the best price

Had a tour of the Honda plant in Swindon. They turn out a new car every 69 seconds. If Fiat do similar then why a delay. Best thing will be the day you get it and then it's all behind you again:)

Since 1996, had Elddis/Swift/Rapido/Rimor/Chausson MHs. Autocruise/Globecar PVCs/Compactline i-138
Whilst we have ordered 2 new MHs previously our others have either been second-hand or already at the dealers.

Elddis Autoquest 320 - bought private locally
Swift Suntor (Sundance) 590RS - new and already in stock at the dealer who needed to sell it as face-lifted base vehicle models coming in.
Rapido 709F - ordered new as layout never made before
Rimor Sailer 645TC - new and in stock at the dealer who needed to sell it to make room for new models coming in ... nice deal done there!
Chausson Flash 04 - ordered new as it was an update of an existing model which met our needs better than the old one
Autocruise Accent - second-hand from a dealer, the owner had bought it new from them, found his Mum couldn't get on with the fixed bed (!) so only stopped in it one night then just drove it around as a day van whilst he waited for a new Alto instead (goodness knows how much he lost!).
Globecar FamilyScout L - ex-demo from the dealer
