we recently bought an old ( 1997) Swift Royale 610. Great van, runs well (we have done about 1600 miles since we bought it on 11th Oct) and very comfortable
Looking on the Swift website for early model specs, Swift tells me my van should have a max weight of 3400kg. My newly acquired V5 has nothing in the weight categories and the plate under the bonnet says 3200kg.
Should the weight be 3400 as the specs say and if so, any idea why mine should be plated at 3200? It looks like an original plate so there don't appear to be any changes.

Unless the converters uprated it, very unlikely, then the plate under the bonnet stands.
Not unusual to not have a revenue weight on the V5....or even an inaccurate one.
I had a Suzuki SJ410 which had a kerb weight of just under a 1000kg.....and a gross (on the V5) of 3500kg.
If you put 2500kg on that thing it would break all four leaf springs and the 997cc petrol engine wouldnt be able to move it anyway.

I might think about uprating it like we did our Autosleeper. Even if I get it replated to 3400 that will give me another 200kg to play with.
At the moment, we are taking quite a bit of stuff back to France with us today, including 120kg of laminate flooring! I'll have to travel with an empty water tank, something I never do

Isn't there another plate on the bodywork somewhere? Not all V5s have the weight on.

There are two plates under the bonnet, the plate with axle weights, max and train weights, and a Swift vin plate showing 3200kg

The Swift plate over-rules any other plate, they did the final build stage to the fiat chassis/cab.
Looks like you're stuck with 3200kg.

Oh well, it is a very light van and I am getting close to 35mpg so I can't complain.
