Sorry Nunny, been away. I will check my own 2.5 in the morning, and get back to you. (I think the photo of the red button is the restriction indicator for the air filter).

When you say 'other side', do you mean towards to cam belt cover??? And, what's that below it?? A pipe, or another sender???

Think you cracked it. Any sign of a loose cable knocking around? It might be blue.

Yes, certainly does. Try this. Bare the green wire back to metal, wedge it against the manifold. Turn on ignition, and watch temp gauge. If it shoots up to VERY HOT, that's your wire. You will have to be REALLY CAREFUL getting that sender out, its tapped into alloy. Spray the exposed threads with WD, go get a brew, then use a socket that fits it correctly. Take it nice and slow, you dont want to strip the thread. You might lose a spoonful of coolant, but keep the top up bottle cap on, then you wont lose much. I would put some copperslip onto the new threads before you fit the unit.

That pipe is the one at front bottom on this pic where your sender is

The spade connector rotted off mate,. Was there nothing at the end of the green wire?? Will have another look at mine if poss tomorrow. Will get the colour for you, if I have a sender there. The other one with the red cables attached looks like an electrical switch.

Since 2005
this is a long shot but i have a vague recollection that the sender is on the back of the water pump.

looking from the side it is to the rear and on the engine side of the pump body or in the long metal pipe running from the pump along behind the cylinder head.

its been a very long time since i had a 2.5 ducato so could be mistaking it with something else.

Worst case situation if no wire I can buy a fresh after market gauge with wire as long as that's right place to put new sender , so not all bad

Yes, but you need to find out how the thing works first, which will tell you what, if anything, is knackered, before you start buying new kit. I will take a look, and get back to you. Our truck is in storage, so it's a bit of a journey. Leave it with me.

PS, the wire is part of the loom, it comes not with a new gauge.
