request advice: can a french buy en english motorhome (1 Viewer)

Good evening,

I'm coming now in your nice country in order to request you about advices and help.

I'm a pretty frogs eater and looking for a motorhome. Today in a french web site, i just found an english motorhome.
It's cheap so good for my wallet and before buying it, i come here to get informations about english motorhomes in france.

Mainly i'd like to have informations about electricity.
In UK you're with 110V and in France we are with 220V.
so
I'd like to know: can you connect your motorhome with 220V, if yes do u need a specific electronic socket or anything else?

another advice but with gas.
In france the rule is 30mb, what is in UK? (i hope u understand cause here it's very difficult for me)

Ok ... Just been told to make a google translation of my post to see how it comes, as I didn't do it , and was not aware of what was coming out of google translation ! just thought it was some kiding from Brian!!

Right I'm going to use the word 'foutu' which has been translated as F*****g in different contexts so you can get what it means !
But for goodness sake stop believing every single stuff Google tells you ! This is just a disgusting tranlation and so very wrong!!!!! OK ?
I'll call Stcyr on this one so he can give you his opinion !!
So a very well shaped girl is said "bien foutue" (well shaped) a very technical stuff well thought and well realised is "bien foutu" this doesn't mean at all F*****G

Please take my word I never ever thought bad things about English ! I'm totally unable to do things like this !! I might judge someone in particular as a stupid person , but will never make it a rule for a whole country people!

This looks like a very good buy! It states on Le Bon coin that the carte Gris is for 3 places so they must have knowledge of the carte Gris! Please make sure that the timing belt has been changed....very important! It is already in French immatriculation so just needs CT to be within 6 months and just change Carte Gris into your name. No need to change headlights or anything else as has all been done! Bon chance!

World wars could be started by people using google/bing/other 'translating' programs.

They are totally pointless in any context.

My posts on the airgun thread the other day spring to mind: I translated the rulings quite clearly, but later put up the same info using 'google translate' - the result was farcical to say the least.

You only have to read through the numerous posts about ADAC to see the confusion caused by these ridiculous translating tools.

To think that companies use these systems to conduct their business in Europe is horrifying. I remember a couple of years ago, an English guy tried to set up a business in France, near us, selling specialised safari roof-racks for 4x4s. He proudly showed me his website created with the 'help' of Google-translate' or somesuch... and asked me to comment. Well, the French text made absolutely no sense at all - a recommended item was 'a bespoke shelving-system to be apposed on the deck of your vagabond of the earth'

Turned out to be a roof-rack to fit a Land-Rover..................................

electric and gas are same as france so no problems you will need a diferent hook uplead at some french sites and aires our electrics are earthed rather than fused on both phases so you will need to check for polarity when used in france

Europe use double pole isolation as it is more effective and renders polarity to be irrelevant to them. They have an earth too and indeed is required for an RCD to operate. All euro plugs have 3 terminals. There are very many discussions over whether reverse polarity is important to us and the concensus is NO unless you are about to start dismantling your electrics while live.

Not meaning to be rude, but to answer the OP's question and not wanting to complicate things, as it transpires that the MH for sale is already French registered, nothing needs to be changed! As I said, it only requires a CT to be within 6 months and the Carte Gris can be changed into the buyer's name. Voila!...end of discussion!

For your information for the future: if an English Motorhome you find for sale in France, is already with French immatriculation, it will not require any electric, gas or water checks! Only a CT and change the Carte Gris into your name in the normal way.
