I have been married 41 yrs and we have allways got on well ,but these past 3/4 years things have changed a bit.SWMBO turned Vegitarian/best friend died suddenly/daughter got cancer (hopefully cured ) she dont want m/c rides and wont go in camper I built. You do change/drift apart as you get older---just got to both give and take and accept it.We both like our own life/space a bit now and sometimes have seperate hols with me in van on my own---we still live together and get on well enough though. When you retire and are under each others feet it is quite an achevement to stay together!!! Hold in there !!!!!!!!

Very true but speaking as one who got married in 1964 and is still married to the same woman - I just hope the 1st 53 years are the worst!! ;)

Hmm! We got married in `64.? are you SURE it`s ONLY 53years?.

p.s. Better not let SWMBO see this post!. Or granddads "Tin Hat" will be out again!

BTW I thought "Syrup" was "Syrup of Fig" (Wig)

Since 2008 after caravanning for 20 years
When at home my wife and I pursue different interests and some days hardly see each other. In the van we get on great, the first drive away from home we get caught up with what we've each been doing and can spend weeks away together. After caravanning and motorhoming for nearly 30 years it's just as well! I'm not saying there are no rows but we love being away together.

My Wife is more of a nice hotel and pool kind of person- I have assured her she will "love" my planned trip to Spain and France in the van. I suppose only time will tell!!

I'm sure you will enjoy every minute...good luck.

At least you are enjoying your travels as you want to now! And there are lots of solo funsters who meet up regularly on their travels so good luck. We love the Dordoyne and are hoping to go back again this year.

My wife was not intially to keen, but I hope she likes it. We discussed a couple of weeks ago and I asked what she liked in a holiday- it boiled down to she likes sunbathing, seeing different places and eating out. I am not particularly fussed about the sun bathing but will be quite happy standing on the rocks with a fishing rod (Catching nowt!!) In the end I said we can do all o fthat in the van and it will be significantly cheaper than our last holiday with hotels at over £250 per night.

We'll see, but I hope she likes it :D2

Plenty of rivers and lakes to fish...many with their very own beachs so you can fish and the wife can sunbath it will be a great break for you both. Good luck.

Living with a partner with disability issues, I cannot tell you how freeing having a Motorhome is. Suddenly we can release our sense of adventure again. Go to places we would not attempt in the wheelchair normally. To have a base with a comfy bed and toilet access on hand, is just a joy. No more relying on hotels to be honest. We know we are sorted. :D

My Princess and I LOVE being on the road together, slowly meandering here and there... and we never get in each other's way.

We have the perfect system.

We each go in our own vans. (y)

Exactly the benefits for us .. we have that constant in that the sleeping arrangements are under our control. We stop when we want to and can change our options without letting anyone down . We celebrated 40 years wed last August and there is no one I would prefer to travel with....

Apart from the flatulence .... :D2

Glad it's working out for you !!!! x

Totally agree, the freedom is wonderful and the adventure spirit is there. We're off scootering and cycling to The Netherlands in April followed the Lake District, The Shetlands and we go to Dovedale to a cottage in February. All this with MS for company. hard work BUT definitely worth it.

Had an early G/Friend in NZ. I persuaded her to come "camping" at Lake Waikaamoana, great spot AND a lovely walk around the lake about, from memory 13 k. Day one we arrived, did a bit of trout fishing, Day two we hiked around the lake, Day three we rested. Day four we packed up got in the car, she turned to me and said!!!!!

I will never! ever! do that again!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

How's Noodles coming on Charlie?

He's fabulous thanks Anthrea..

I spend much time training him and he's picking up everything so fast. He sits and lies down on demand. He gives his paw and when I say no not that one he gives the other one. He plays dead a real treat but has failed to realise dead means keeping his tail still ! :D2 I put training treats on the back of his paw when he lies down and he won't take them till I say go on then .The leave command is important and he has it drilled in very well. I'm taking him to an agility class not far away but just for socialising just now.. He will start training at 9 months or so hes 4 months just now.

It's all been a huge success so far and my wife just loves him and he's ace company for her when I pop out.

He loves to please and I enjoy working with him. It's relaxing and such fun ..

I'm so glad for you both , he sounds a clever little thing , I think puppies are like babies need loads of stimulation and as it's all play to them they learn very quickly. Hopefully will meet him one day when you are out and about in your van!

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
We both love being away in Pug.
We go away , just us two and our dog.
That's how we like it.
We've never ever had a full blown row , at home or in Pug. We may have disagreements, but not rows , neither of us sulks. My parents had rows daily , not a nice environment to live in as a child.
Now and then we may go to the odd rally on fun , maybe 3 a year , but that's it. The rest of the time it's just us. How we like it. We meet lots of new people on our travels , but leave it at that. We may bump into them again , we may not. Neither of us do face book etc. This forum is the only thing we are part of.
We get on, we enjoy the same things in life, and each other.
