As Peter & Elaine said no need to book loads of sites we haven't booked a site in years and Croatia at this time of year plenty of spaces
Do the coast road its beautiful.
Internet not used mt 3mifi as its not supported here but to be honest every site has had free wifi likewise every town we've visited.
Weather has just changed a bit big old thunderstorm last night mid 20s now instead of mid 30s. Locals are dancing apparently been waiting 3 months for some cooler weather. Awww

@Peter & Elaine just found this thread, I see you got gassed and lost all that jewelry etc. are you sure it wasn't that fish meal you had and the mussels causing the gas
Just met up with @Forestboy in Orasac Kamp and another couple in a nice PVC who couldn't remember his forum name. Disposed of a decent amount of grape juice. Strangely this site is totally dominated by French so we fit in nicely in our French Van except nobody speaks to us fantastic country really nice people glad we came.

Just a thought the only refugees we have seen are Germans it full of them
Mostly Bavarians
The whole tourist trade down here is built around Germans and Austrian
We are on one of biggest sites now and there is one more Brit couple
Dropped pin
near Poljička cesta - Dočine 71, 21310, Omiš, Croatia

Just down the coast from where we usually stay then ( Strobec )

Good post helps allay any fears others have.
We're currently in Split 34c today, lovely old town went in this morning on the motorbike. Back in tomorrow or Monday before heading further south to eventually reach Dubrovnik. We were in Plitvice last week what a magical place and the colour of the water. About 3 weeks left before we head home sadly.

Croatia is a fantastic place to tour especially in a motorhome. Beautiful country one of the best coast roads we've driven with cheap campsites everywhere. Add to that stunning weather wonderful people cheap fuel whats not too like.
Darrell calls the coast road the WOW road.. every bend taken seems to open on yet another WOW ! view (y)

Had hardly heard a British voice for over a week then 3 Funsters all parked next to each other at Dubrovnik better by a lottery ticket.

Just down the coast from where we usually stay then ( Strobec )

Strobec is where we were a few days ago Camping Split.

What a road eh John from Rijeka to Dubrovnik just one amazing bend and view after another. Took the Kawasaki up the track to the top of the cable car today fantastic view. Hundreds of bikers down here from all over Europe maybe we should have another ride out.
Off to Valencia on mine in November.

You may be correct about the gas she was ok next day so we stayed another night just to be sure and all is well
Since leaving you we bumped into belive it or not
A English man a Irish man and a welsh man all in lidles sure there must be a joke in there somewhere
We are slowly moving north just past starigrad plan on moving onwards in morning to senj for a couple of days then maybe up to pula before crossing in slovina then Italy ready to go into Venice but as they say plans change
We have just over 4 weeks left so no rush yet and with the weather at home no reason to
Ever onwards as they say

As for jaws and Forrest boy you are correct this place is a bikers dream
We have considered next year after Rush has died down dragging trike down for a couple of month if I can get insurance sorted

As there were no asylum seekers in Croatia, we have now moved on to Montenegro and none here either so may have to go into Albania to get some excitement.
Seriously though, we were so close it was worth the trip, the countryside is beautiful. Similar prices as Croatia but Eros here. Camp sites are few and far between but the two we have stayed in are €15 per night including wifi and electric. Still don't know whether wild camping is allowed but most people seem to think not.
Check your Green Card though because the grumpy man in the customs hut does. We have French insurance so fully covered with breakdown in all countries boarder in the Med, Adriatic. Including Bosnia. Finally some benefit from having a French van.

Temperature going down last night but a fantastic drive over the mountains to Podgorica stayed at a camper stop outside a Hotel ok but no security €15 for a bit of Tarmac but heyho some good some not so good.
Decided to loop up to return to Croatia via Bosnia rather than continuing through Albani, will leave that for another year to go on to Greece. Fantastic drive in the mountains through Bosnia again green card inspected very closely and another two stamps in Passport in and out. But worth it for the drive. Great views, sheer drops, not good for my vertigo! Now settled into Camp Lupus at the very end of the Peljsac peninsular. ASCI price quite large with very good sized pitches.

So we finally arrived in Croatia and in true reckless family holiday tradition, the weather is a bit rubbish and everywhere looks closed :( bumped into our first funsters @Peter & Elaine, parked up next to them in Novigrad - the sun was still shining then - thanks for the tips, Peter. Today 14°, seriously????? We can only imagine how beautiful the views would be if the sea wasn't grey and choppy. We've stopped just short of Rijeka and will move on towards Senj tomorrow.

Anyhoo, it seems it will be warmer soon albeit with a chance of rain so I'll put my winter coat back in the locker.

@reckless
You could be a few weeks too late as its Bora time now, frightened the bloody living daylights out of me today and cold too.
Senj is known as being the coldest and windiest place on the coast. Nice little site there you park right on the waters edge. We stopped there on the way down 4 weeks ago and within 5 minutes both chairs blew away and the garge door ripped off:rolleyes:
We're currently 20 minutes from Rijeka, went in today on the motorbike Jan found a shop that sells quality fabrics at very cheap prices. Now in Istria will head down to Pula tomorrow for a couple of days but if the wind doesnt calm down will be heading back to Italy Saturday. Gotta be back in Calais next Thursday for chunnel Friday am.
Enjoy your trip. (y)(y)

OOOOOK @Forestboy coat stays out then! Were close to Opatija, haven't been into Rijeka. Really liking forward to Senj now  probably just stay in and read

Note to all readers - don't go anywhere at the same time as us, we just don't seem to get lucky with the weather. I know we've left it a bit late getting here, couldn't be helped, but we did hope for something like mid-20s.

Sorry to say it is still nice here, spent last two nights in Camping Split, not impresses too commercial and expensive for the facilities we use. Great sunny day yesterday walking round split almost too hot at times. Did Trigor this morning again really hot, now sitting out having a beer at Camping Krka ready to investigate the falls tomorrow a bit overcast but hopefully better tomorrow although a German guy just told us that rain was on its way. So maybe going to get what you have. Peter don't forget the Free walking tour http://freetourvenice.com/ to book it.
Good travelling.

We've stopped off at Selce, it could be hot if this b****y wind would drop. White knuckle ride with the force of the gusts battering the van earlier.

Campsite mmmhhh end of season looking past it's best and limited pitches and services available. Don't even do ACSI discount for final 2 weeks??

But we remain optimistic as we plan to be here for a couple of weeks yet. And it's always better than being at home.

In Lovran today been out on the motorbike up in the mountains. Did over a 100 miles on some awesome roads definitely not for motorhome though.
Heading to Pula tomorrow for a couple of days the Navigrad and then head home.

@Forestboy yep great day today, cycled to Crikvenica, sunshine all day, no sign of those winds. We've now seen the beautiful bays and clear water you raved about. Stunning.
Moving down the coast tomorrow, not sure where we'll stop. Possible rain but maybe not much eh?

Hi @Forestboy & @Peter & Elaine or anybody,
We did Krka National Park yesterday, having a slow day today at Camp Krka, very nice lady owner. Heading for Plitvic National Park tomorrow. Any suggestions for sites to use or avoid. Ideally with easy access for the park. We have been told that Entrance number 1 is the best way to go, is that your experiences.
