Hi there, thinking about fitting two 6 kg refillable gas cylinders in the motorhome but which is the best?

Gaslow, Autogas 2000, Gasit or is there another?

An exterior tank is not really an option on our Autoquest 180.

    Thanks.

    Mike.

Why do you say an external tank is not an option?

We have a very low chassis and had an underslung tank fitted by Autogas2000 (brilliant service) which apart from the convenience of topping up with gas any time it has also freed up the old gas locker for additional storage.

When we had an Autoquest 100 we rejected the idea of two 6Kg fixed bottles as it would have been very expensive and only heavy steel bottles were available. We were considering a fixed tank when the van was written off.

If I were you I would look into having an underfloor tank fitted. There should be adequate depth as there already will be for the fuel tank and grey waste tank.

Thanks for the replies. Didn't think there would be enough room for under slung tank so may have to go away and have a rethink :thumb:

Probably worth a visit to see Chris at Autogas2000 near Thirsk. He has all shapes and sizes of lpg tanks along loads of experience and good ideas.

Of course he also does refillable bottles ...... I have no connection with Autogas2000 except being a satisfied customer but I would be open to any commission payments should they appear.

I had my two 11kg bottles fitted by Chris and Co at Autogas 2000.
Originally I had wanted an underslung tank, but when they had a look they said that the available space would only give me about the same amount of gas as the two bottles, but for a lot more expense. They could have taken my money and fit underslung but chose to give me good advice instead.

First class service and honest service :thumb:

Actually just been and filled up lpg for the first time since having the system fitted.
Only used one bottle, which was not quite empty.
    Total cost was £13.57p.

All the bottles are pretty similar, Alugas and I think Gasit are Aluminium and lighter than the steel ones. Gaslow are a pretty colour if that's what you like.

Gasit are steel according to their web site. I think Alugas are the only aluminium ones.

IMHO gasit are cheapest and apart from the colour identical to gaslow lightest and most expensive alugas bottles.

easy to self fit if you can use basic hand tools:thumb:

Just had 2x6kg refillable cylinders fitted at Autogas 2000 near Thirsk. Excellent service and price. I believe the 6 kg cylinders only available in steel. The larger cylinders are available in aluminium. You also get a 5% MHF discount - membership number required.
