I was using a single Gaslow bottle until earlier this year. As a fulltimer who tends to stay off campsites (mostly) I do use a lot of gas in the winter. Usually 11KG per week in the really bad weather. I have just added a second Gasit bottle and went for the auto change over.
My thinking is as follows. In the winter when my usage is extremely predictable I will have it on Auto so that I don't need to get out when it is cold/wet etc. I will then fill up every 10 days or so. I once came back from the pub in the middle of winter to find my fresh water had dumped due to the heating going off in a particularly bad patch of weather. Not fun having to swap cylinders, fill up fresh water tank and wait for the van to warm up when drunk and very cold.
In the summer my gas can last from any from 3 weeks to 3 months depending on the temp outside. I currently have the second bottle switched off. I will fill the primary bottle when I feel I have used a fair bit. However if I leave it too long I know I have a bottle in reserve and will get a good warning.
So basically winter I will use auto, summer I will use it in manual mode. Best of both worlds.
