Red Pennant just asked me for a full service history
is this standard with a 15 year old van?
and with every recovery service?

If they keep that up they will be swamped with spurious paperwork - sounds to me like a jobsworth has got involved

Having had alot to do with recovery companies - that is a new one on me!

It may be a cost (risk) cutting factor in only providing cover to those vehicles that appear to be well maintained. Problem with older motorhomes, not only do things go wrong, but there are lots of additions, and repairs carried out by owners of various skill sets.

I hope this is not a new trend.
Many motorhomes serviced at home are beter cared for than dealer serviced vans.
Could this be a new get out clause.

started when I was 11 with my parents-forgot to stop!been real one since 1980!
Some years ago it was a policy not to do recovery for vehicles over 15 years and it was originally started by the RAC,bit ironic as they used to organise the London to Brighton run. Looks like the Caravan Club are keeping the aspidistra flying-what what what Carruthers.

We had a G Reg Pilote which we had with Green Flag as a recovery service. The Uk rescue was fine, no problem at all, but each time when we went overseas, and were with Red Pennant we had to pay an extra fee to cover the age of the vehicle. (From Memory it was if it was 15 years old and over)

We are still with Green Flag, all the bells and whistles policy, ÂŁ116 this year:thumb:

We are with Comfort (AVIVA) who use RAC Commercial. We have a 1992 van that is 24ft and 4600kg laden. We had two call outs in Spain last winter without any problems. Both involved recovery to a Garage/Depot for repairs.

Great service and follow up including providing translators for us as required.

You should try throwing self build into the mix then it gets realy difficult , what was realy stupid was when we went from a 1989 talbot autosleeper to a 2 year old fiat ducato self build britannia cancellled our policy which would you think was the higher risk

I also managed to get cover with '2Gether' and Madge will be 25 this year..! :thumb: Only have the UK policy as I'm not that brave to venture further yet, but at 40 odd pounds was a great deal.
