If you're in Derbyshire the Ashford Arms at Ashford in the Water near Bakewell is excellent for food.

We were at Peters in La Cala again today for extended lunch and I remembered to take the camera, so here is a few photos. The restaurant is the width of a single track road from the beautiful beach and 5 minutes out of the centre of Benidorm. As I always say, Benidorm is all things to all people.

My favourite is Piccolinos in Ilkley, always a good meal and as we have a contract with all Piccolinos restaurants i never have to pay::bigsmile:.

If you get the chance take the glass lift (great views) up to the 39th floor of the Heron Tower the tallest building in London at 755ft and enter the Sushisamba Restaurant, great food but expensive.:thumb:

Our favourite is Roy's fish n chips in Casement Square, in Gibraltar. In the UK its The White Horse in Tattingstone, lovely food and quite cheap.

Restaurants

We recently celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary with our close family and we took them to Raymond Blanc 's Manoir Aux Quat Saisons for a Saturday lunch.

From the moment we arrived to the end we were looked after brilliantly, we had a private room set just off the main restaurant with our own waiter and were served a nine corse tasting menu, the two children were very well locked after, one has the same as the grown ups and one asked for burger and chips and got it, he said, was the best ever. They were even taken to the kitchen to choose ice creams. While we chose deserts.

All in all a really memorable experience, I don't think we could have done better. The choice was a long weekend away in a good hotel just for us two , or a family lunch at the Manoir. We made the right choice and I realise we were very lucky to be able to do it.

If anyone wants a really unforgettable food experience, I thoroughly recommend this one. It is as swell to arrive at least an hour early so you can walk around fabulous garden before your meal. Not to be missed.

My favourite is La Tupina in Bordeaux. It was the best night out I have ever had and the food is absolutely amazing. The price was surprising as well in a good way.

In the UK my favourite is "The Ranch Steakhouse and Grill" in Louth. Best steak I have had in the UK, excellent service. They do something called a black rock which I have never heard of before. But is it a great hunk of stone which they heat to seriously hot temps (I seem to recall it being in excess of 500 Degrees) They put the steak on this and you cook it to the exact state of rareness/welldoneness that you want. I like mine pretty rare but this tends to mean it is cold by the time it gets to me in a normal restaurant. However with the black rock thingy, it comes to me almost cooked. I take it off the rock and cut each piece off and heat/cook it right there in front of me. Dip it in the chosen sauce and have a nice hot/rare steak. The steaks are of a really good quality as well. I have been twice now and will go again as soon as I can... Beautiful.

I can't recommend this place enough :thumb:

Yes I'd have to agree and lunch is a great way to experience this fantastic place without breaking the bank (too much). :thumb:

This is an old thread I thought was worth resurrecting as it seems am not the only foody on here. One that I do find pretty good is Casa Pepi on the Rincon in Benidorm. The Sunday menu is always lamb shank in red wine sauce. Four courses including bread and olioli and wine at 11 Euros per head.
Marianos Benidorm, full English breakfast including fresh orange juice at 2 Euros and also the best whole cooked chicken in Spain at 7-50 Euros. Smudger now being on his diet goes to Marianos for breakfast only on alternate days now .

The places I like to eat at serve local dishes. So a full English best eaten in England and Spanish food in Spain! (e.g. squid and other denizens of the deep.)

Normally I would agree with that, but Spanish eggs taste better, especially in Spain ::bigsmile: .

Have been to this restaurant in Gravelines a couple of times . It makes for a good start , or end to a Euro trip . Excellent food , good service and very reasonable cost . Tabs at the top of the link show menus and set meal choices etc .

About a 5 minute walk from Gravelines marina aire , allow for a stroll through the town main square and popping in to one of the pubs .

Go through Ings regularly on our way to our lodge,
The garage near by is where i bought my jeep grand cherokee overland, i notice it now sells motorhomes. Will have to stop in for a look around.

Read our review in the new dealer database before parting with cash.:Eeek:

If you have a long wait for your ferry in Calais then I can recommend Le Channel on the Boulevarde do la Resistance. It is near the harbour and only a few minutes from the Calais Aire.

I have only ever been there for lunch and the food is always superb and reasonably priced, considering the quality. I have been using it for 30 years on and off and in that time it has been passed down from Mother and Father to their two sons who still maintain the same quality.

We are very partial to Turkish food and there is a cracking little 'ocak basi' restaurant in Nottingham called Hansofrasi. Everything is cooked on the 'ocak basi' charcoal fire. The pirzola (lamb chops) are wonderful:thumb:
