Can anyone recommend nice spots to stop (campsite or aire) in Brittany or between Noirmoutier and st Malo? We have an early morning crossing so the last night needs to be close by. Much appreciated.

If that's the municipal campsite I'm thinking of, we intended to stay there June last year, but rolled up to find it closed. Ended up on an aire a few miles out in a little village with great bus service into town, pizza guy onsite and a short walk to a beach and village amenities (shops, bars, restaurant).

Aire at Nozay nice lakeside 8 euro.
campeneac aire nice lake/pond side , free, but services up in village chargeable.
I like Nort sur Edre, was a large car park (took about 20 moho's)next to a park & alongside the river ,but I think they have put large stones making it a smaller area bit tight.

We always stay overnight at St Benoit Des Ondes, easy drive to the st malo ferry the next day. Very pleasant spot opposite the sea in a village which is a popular spot for oysters. In the camperstop app it is number 12170. Great tower next to the aire that has been renovated.

Another vote for this one.

We were lucky enough to park on the ramparts. At about 7:30am we heard a deep throbbing noise and, on looking out the window, we saw one of the Ferries coming in.

Kettle on, coffee made, back into bed watching through the window. We didn't realise but four of our friends were on board doing a "Booze cruise"

Le Croisic - 5 small aires dotted around the town, the harbour side aire is the most practical. Service point at neighbouring aire by station (less appealing), supermarket close by.

Carnac - aire in town, loads of lines of prehistoric standing stones in the surrounding fields - unique.

Quiberon peninsula - last time we went there was a free aire at Port Blanc/Porz Guen (NW end of peninsula, close to one of the few sandy beaches). No service point but public loo nearby. We cycled the length of the peninsula from there and we're not especially energetic.

Concarneau - quaint old walled town in harbour, aire next to the old station not far away.

Penmarc'h - Camping La Plage does the job if you want a sedate beachside campsite.

However, a far more dramatic beach can be found at Pointe de la Torche. Nearest aire to that is Saint-Guenole, which has no service point. You can park a MH easily at La Torche but not overnight. If you visit La Torche in spring be sure to take the road to/from Plomeur at some point - at this time of the year their bulb fields can rival those in Holland (I've seen both):

Broken Link Removed

If quaint and cobbles are your thing, don't by-pass Locronan. It has a small aire, but also MH friendly parking for a day visit.

Yes your right about large stones and smaller area to park, we stayed there about 3 weeks ago, only room for about 8 vans and gets busy with cars parking to use the play area, still a nice spot but has no dump facilities now. We did find a very nice aire at Riaille, 6 hedged pitches with free water, dump and free to stop, nice peaceful spot.

This was the place we ended up:-

We stayed at a wonderful campsite so close to Carnac beach, it is run by a lovely family and very clean. Camping Le Men Du, it is definitely on our must revisit list

we worked around Brittany last year and will do it again this year but much slower as we've got more time. We just used Camperstop and found it great. We got in at everyone we went to - Carnac was the most difficult.

I'm just going to upload pictures of St Malo aire and town. The bus to and from town (10 mins) is free with your aire fee.

We've used the Aire (main Carpark) in Dol de Bretagne few miles south of St Malo. There's a service point and restaurants, bakery etc,

Incidentally anyone reading this with a view to staying in the area - we stayed at Port de Dinan last night under a huge viaduct bridge on a river.very quiet (5of us) and lovely river outlook . Short walk into town reveals historical centre with steep cobbles streets full of artisans shops great bars and eating places. Definitely recommended!
Sat nav tried to take us through an impossibly tiny alley and bridge so we abandoned the idea and set off for the municipal one. On the way we spotted a sign for here so managed to approach it from a different direction. Maybe it was our error but we put it down to one of Garnin's foibles.

Hi @Jac Sprat ,
been a bit busy last few days , so only just seen your post, I would have recommended a nice lakeside aire at or near Evran just south of Dinan Saint Andres des Eaux, nice free aire, about 25 miles from St malo
