we have a 7" mono monitor hanging down in the cab and a camera at the back, again, I assume also mono but our last van had colour and I would like to replace the original kit with a nice flat 7" monitor and colour cam
Any recommendations? A double camera would be good too so I can use one as a rear view cam

eBay is your friend. You should be able to pick up a kit for under £50. See Minxygirls last post for an excellent monitor.

I am usually wary of buying anything electrical from EBay, but I have been looking. Minxys monitor is a mirror mounted one, I want either a hang down or dash mounted 7" monitor and would welcome recommendations on this type Tom anyone.

Does it have to be 7"? Which GPS (if any) do you have?

I have the Garmin Camper GPS (via Aldi) and the Garmin BC30 (via Google) and I find these an excellent combination. The camera is wireless and linked to the reverse lamp for power so automatically activated. Fitted top centre of the vehicle licence plate.
Simple installation and calibration.

Possibly a little more expensive than some solutions but a well known manufacturer. I was so pleased I have bought an additional camera (not fitted yet) as the device will support up to 4 (if I remember correctly) which can be viewed in combination or switched individually.

Just my set up but maybe an option if you already have the Garmin.

Quick edit, forgot to say of course it uses the Garmin GPS screen for the monitor which reduces the amount of junk cluttering the windscreen area, and easily removed when leaving the vehicle.

Thanks Clive, I have a Garmin Dezl 760 so could easily fit the camera, but, I wanted to have the rear view camera on all the time.
I suppose I could buy another 760 if Aldi have another offer on?

Can you explain what you mean by a 'hanging down' monitor? Do you mean something like this?

For a dash mounted on there are these type:

As for a camera there are wired or unwired (except for the power feed!) and they are cheaper than a fish supper!

Just found this one with a cameras for rear view and a parking sensor

When buying a camera make sure it has a 170 degree spread as some are only 140 degrees.

There are many on eBay. Look at a reliable (non-eBay) suppliers range, choose one, then buy it on eBay. For example the company below specialises in rear view systems and the link is to a rear view monitor available on eBay:

Not the one you want of course but it demonstrates the savings that can be made. These devices are generic, all come from China, and are badged according to the retailers requirements.
