It's always bugged me that the tap is illogical in that this is the closed and travelling postion

I know others have felt the same and altered theirs, today was my turn.
You need to drill out the two rivets as pictured above and then the whole assembly will pull out and away from the tank.
When removed this screw & nut needs removing

Then with the screw removed it requires a decent pair of pipe grips on the plastic interface whilst turning the tap at the other end through approx 90 degrees.
Then re drill the hole for the screw and nut.
When replaced it looks like this

The Rapido wot we used to have must have been modified cos the handle was already in the revised position.
Good job as it would have annoyed me as it did you Andy

Mine is just like yours is after the modification, ie up and down is open, and it always has been. Perhaps it depends on who fitted it. (Mine is a Rapido too)

I've got on my 'to do' list for me to have a go at doing something similar with our waste and fresh water tank drain taps too ... they are in a stupid place - the centre of the van on opposite sides and point down - so are prone to being bashed ... hubby knocked part of the nearside one off not long after we got it, when he forgot about allowing a bit extra for the longer wheelbase so took the corner a too close to the curb ... although he denies it of course and says something must have jumped up off the road and 'attacked' it!!! :RollEyes ::bigsmile:

I've been toying with replacing the rigid pipes with a flexible ones so I can 'hook' them up out of harms way and just lower them down when needs be. In the meantime I might just do as you have though and turn them 90 degrees for now. :thumb:
