Quite rightly many of us think they are a rip off.
So I tried to source elsewhere. I stripped the lock down, found enough details to enable me to track down a chandlery place in the States. By the time I'd have got it back to the UK the price would have been the around £200.
So I spent a few coppers on some elastic and tied it around the inside handle and onto a towel rail on the door, it works for me

I replaced our POS plastic Chausson one with a brushed stainless one from B+Q.
What sort of thing does your Rapido have?

What s actually Wrong with it? Mine has a tendency to not spring back when used? You have to physically lift it back into place but then it holds OK?

I think I would go the B&Q route?

Proper door handle and lock like you have in your house in our Pilote. We don't lock the door though there is only ever the two of us in the van so we don't feel the need.

It's not actually the lock that gives trouble, it's the spring inside the catch that breaks. We have had ours repaired twice, £20 the last time from our local locksmith but he did say that he wouldn't be able to do it again as it is getting past repair. I think Rapido charge something like £200 but that may include the handle. One way round it is a swivel lock that you can lock from both sides like on a public loo.

I think I will try a lock smith....cheapest I've found is 88 dollars and 44 dollars postage..
The issue is that the size of the door does not allow itself to a conventional one. Unless anyone else knows otherwise. .
And yes it's the spring that's broken.

Well good news and thanks to the help of others by PM

The answer was a locksmith and £20 later and an uprated spring and we are back peeing in peace. ..

Clearly a manufacturer issue and the lock not up to the job. ..
