Hi Just done a deal on a 2008 Rapido 986M, collecting on the 18/3/17 . Can anyone give any advice and what to look for,
What sort of M.P.G can I expect from the 3Litre Mercedes Lump with auto box ?
Is there any Known issues ?
Thanks in anticipation

Brian

I think everyone was too polite to point out any "known issues" seeing as your opening statement was "just done the deal"

Enjoy anyway.

Too many years
Two sets of friends that have that engine in an A class get around 16 - 18 MPG driving briskly, more when driving at 55/60 MPH.
Not the most economic but smooth, powerful and quiet.

20 years (unless you count my dads VW which makes it 52 years with a few gaps!!)
it was one of the things that put me off an auto.I got 27.2 on the trip computer after 230 miles, mostly motorway although that was unloaded.

My Rapido 999M has the 3l engine and can give me up to 25mpg when driven sedately on the continent, put your foot down on the autoroute and it can drop to about 15mpg. That is 6 speed manual though.
Rapido has a tendency to be a trifle overoptimistic about their payload, I would suggest using a weighbridge to see just what you've got available. In particular the front axle tends to be close to its limit with the larger engine, not that there's much else apart from engine over the front axle so can't do much about it.

Yes intend to get it on the weighbridge ( shown as 3880 on Rapido plate) as soon as I get it back, only had it a week and for some unknown reason it failed to start at the weekend turned the key ignition on but wont turn starter.
After a lot of fiddling with it found 25 amp fuse on starter circuit blown, changed fuse and it started first time.
Next day went to it same again but didn't blow the fuse, tried a couple more times and it started, suspect faulty starter motor or and solenoid. dealer can see if he can sort it.
