New speed cameras will no longer be preceded 400m before by warning signs
Signs will be placed 1-2km before a zone where one or more cameras may be in place, stating "CONTROLES RADAR FREQUENTS" The goverment says this is to avoid people braking just before a camera.
Cameras that check speed between two points will be put in place next year

be warned ; this is just one thread in a series of ideas to reduce the mortality on the route in france ...speeding , overweight , technical faults , alcohol even [ yes really ]

despite recent actions , the death rate is still far too high , well above the uk , and the powers that be are determined to reduce it

not long ago I was driving down a dual carriageway at 2.30 pm ; it was blocked by the gendarmerie somewhere there was no possibility of exiting , and every driver was breathalysed

in france they don't need to have any cause to stop you !

I have been stopped and breathalised on a little country road miles from anywhere at midnight, in fact the Gendarmes had set up a road block

It does happen yes , very true ! But most of the time there's a dancing or night club lost somewhere in the country side that you don't suspect to be in such a lost area. Most of the time they do breathalise on fridays and saturdays when people go out of restaurants and as well between 4.00 and 5.00am when people go out of nightclubs!

During the day when they stop each driver , it can be because of prisonner's escape or someone who escaped from a psychiatric hospital or because of missing child alert.

Its very noticeable the increase in cameras over the last few years in France some places have no signs at all!
