we are taking the dog away for the 1st time this year down to croatia, we have her passport and was wondering do you need to take seperate travel insurance out for the dog like we do for ourselves?

It is worth checking the policy if your dog is currently insured. Some companies cover trips abroad as part of the policy but generally restrictions apply such as length of time out of the country. Look carefully at small print as to what is and what is not covered. Some companies will provide additional cover for an additional premium. Well worth looking into as any problems could be costly.
Moneysupermarket do a comparison as do gocompare and petinsuranceonline.co.uk but they don't cover things such as caravan club insurance etc. Cost and cover varies enormously.

I have spent many hours looking into this over the past few weeks!
Cheers

Best deal I've found is Healthy Pets especially it appears to be the best cover for travelling abroad.
