we have finally found storage for a motorhome (although limited to 22ft) and have found a couple of rapido motorhomes we like. My question is how do people manage with small payloads? These vans have the fixed bed and L shape bench we like but the payload is 400 and 350. Is this enough?

Rapido are notorious for wildly inaccurate payload claims. You must weigh the van before you know your starting point.

You could always look into replating it to a higher gross weight, cost about £300 with SV Tech or I'm sure you can do it yourself.

Like a lot of A class vans and Rapido is no exception have a small payload due to the quality build .We probably ran around for a few years over weight not tending to worry about it but upgraded last year from 3.5 ton to 3.850 ,just a paper exercise to allow for Shirley(the wife) to pile more essentials in.lol.

I cannot of course comment on other Rapido models but our 7097f with fixed bed and garage comes in below max axle weights loaded and ready to go including scooter in the garage. 3500 plated could uprate to 3800 if we needed to but cant see the point at the moment.

THe important weight is the MGW, not the axle weights. The sum of the axle weights will always be quite a bit more than the MGW.

My Rapido (999M) had very limited payload, now replated to 4000kg
